How to fabricate and install distal jig???
.
Distal jig consisted of 4 main portion: Hook, mesial round loop, horizontal wire span and posterior loop.
1️⃣. Measure the distance from distal of canine bracket to mesial of 1st molar tube. This will be the total length of fabricated distal jig.
2️⃣. Add fixed length of 24 mm to the measured distance in step 1. This will be the total length of wire we need. The wire size could be 0.025 SS or 0.016 x 0.022 SS.
3️⃣. Form one end of wire just like a question mark to serve as a traction hook.
4️⃣. Form a round loop (mesial round loop) 6mm from the hook. The loop should be perpendicular to the orientation of hook. Bend the wire parallel and upward toward the hook and then 2mm below the hook bend the wire toward posterior segment. This portion will be the horizontal wire span which will be extended to the mesial of 1st molar tube.
5️⃣. Bend the wire downward and form the posterior round loop.
The round loops should be perpendicular (at 90 degree) to the orientation of horizontal wire span and the hook as well.
The loops designed in order to be passive around the main arch wire so that it could slide without friction.
